The free self-directed IRA or checkbook IRA will be provided by Guidant Financial Group, Inc. (”GFG”). If you plan on using your new self-directed IRA to purchase an investment opportunity listed on the site, or if you need the account set up prior to closing on the purchase of your investment listed on FreeSelfDirectedIRA.org, then you will be charged the $3,995 upfront and then reimbursed for the full $3,995 within 5 business days of closing on your investment.

If you do not require the self-directed IRA to be completed prior to your investment purchase then GFG will begin the process of creating your checkbook IRA within 5 days of receiving confirmation of your purchase and a completed IRA contract. You will be required to complete a questionnaire and contract with GFG before they begin work on your checkbook IRA.

It should also be noted that while the self-directed IRA LLC set up fee from GFG is free to you, subject to the closing of your investment transaction, there is an annual fee of $100-$200 a year for maintenance of the IRA’s custodial account. This fee is paid directly to the licensed custodian that will be administering your IRA account and completing annual filings on behalf of your IRA to the Internal Revenue Service. There may also be fees associated with additional services you may require from the custodian in the future, including additional transaction fees (for transactions outside of the IRA LLC) and cancellation charges.
